Description:
TSW recently assisted Pond & Company in completing Imagine Roswell 2035, an update to the Imagine Roswell 2030 Comprehensive Plan. The main focus of the project was on land use analysis and recommendations for future land use and key activity areas in the city. The plan, which was prepared under the new set of rules established by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA), provides a summary of what is happening in the city, as well as the most significant trends and the City’s plans for the future.
One of the key elements of the project was the extensive Community Participation Plan that was implemented. This plan focused on bringing together a significant number of citizens, business owners, and other stakeholders for public meetings, a three-day charrette, a follow-up workshop, and draft and final plan presentations. The goal was to ensure that the plan reflected the needs and desires of the community.
With the support of the Mayor and the Council, this plan provides a user-friendly, practical document that establishes the foundation for modernizing the zoning ordinance and integrating transportation planning with future land development, based on design principles. The plan is designed to be a guide for the City’s future growth and development and it takes into consideration the needs of the community, as well as the city’s infrastructure and resources.
As a result of the comprehensive planning process, the City of Roswell has been recognized as a “PlanFirst” community by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs. This recognition is given to cities that have demonstrated a commitment to comprehensive planning and have implemented their plans in a meaningful way. The Imagine Roswell 2035 plan will serve as a roadmap for the city’s future development, helping to ensure that Roswell continues to be a vibrant and livable community for years to come.
