Description:
TSW’s Landscape Architecture Studio was recently hired by Keck and Wood to produce a concept design and cost estimate for a gateway sign for the City of Doraville. The sign is designed to span across a 2-lane road (Oakcliff) and be constructed of steel. The sign is lighted and has a minimum clearance of 14 feet from the roadway surface, ensuring that it is visible and easily accessible to both pedestrians and vehicular traffic.
To ensure the sign was built to the highest standards, TSW worked with a signage fabricator to produce a fabrication drawing and associated cost. The estimated construction budget for the sign is between $75,000 and $85,000. This budget takes into account the cost of materials, labor, and any other expenses associated with the construction of the sign.
The gateway sign features narrow pole sconce lighting and back-lit letters, which are illuminated at night, welcoming visitors and residents to the City of Doraville. This not only makes the sign more visible and attractive, but also helps to create a sense of pride and community among residents.
The design of the sign also includes space for sidewalks, ensuring that pedestrians can safely pass through the gateway alongside vehicular traffic. This is an important consideration, as it promotes walkability and encourages people to visit the city center on foot.
Overall, TSW was able to produce a concept design and cost estimate for a gateway sign that meets the needs of the City of Doraville. The sign is designed to be both functional and attractive, welcoming visitors and residents to the city while promoting walkability and community pride. The estimated construction budget of $75,000 – $85,000 is reasonable and provides the city with an attractive and functional sign that will serve as a welcoming entrance to the city.
