TSW’s Landscape Architecture Studio is partnering with Midtown Alliance on a comprehensive plan to enhance 5th Street, a vital east-west corridor in Midtown Atlanta. Serving a densely populated area with diverse residential, commercial, and institutional uses, 5th Street plays a critical role in the daily lives of Midtown residents, workers, and visitors—from the busy Downtown Connector and the eastern edge of the Georgia Tech campus to its intersection with Myrtle Street.

To improve safety and efficiency for all users, the City of Atlanta has launched the “5th Street Complete Street” project, led by Midtown Alliance. This initiative aims to create a more robust multimodal transportation system, accommodating cars, buses, bicycles, ride-shares, and pedestrians. By addressing existing transportation challenges, the project will make it easier and safer for people to travel along 5th Street.

The project includes a variety of enhancements designed to improve the experience for all roadway users. New bike lanes will provide a safer, more accessible option for cyclists, while improved sidewalks will enhance pedestrian access.
