5th Street Complete Street

TSW’s Landscape Architecture Studio is partnering with Midtown Alliance on a comprehensive plan to enhance 5th Street, a vital east-west transportation corridor in Midtown Atlanta. The area served by 5th Street is heavily populated and includes a diverse range of residential, commercial, and institutional uses. From the busy Downtown Connector/ eastern edge of the Georgia Tech campus, to its intersection with Myrtle Street, 5th Street plays a critical role in the daily life of Midtown residents, workers, and visitors.

To make this important roadway safer and more efficient for all users, the City of Atlanta has initiated a project called the “5th Street Complete Street.” Led by Midtown Alliance, this project aims to create a more multi-modal transportation system that accommodates the needs of cars, buses, bicycles, ride-shares, and pedestrians. The project will address many of the transportation challenges faced by the community, and make it easier and safer for people to travel along Fifth Street.

The 5th Street Complete Street project includes a range of improvements that will benefit everyone who uses the roadway.
