Gwinnett County George Pierce Park Update
George Pierce Park in Gwinnett County is currently undergoing phase 2 of its construction and is entering its second month of work. The site has been cleared and the park is being transformed into a modern, inclusive space for the community to enjoy. The park will feature several new amenities including a universally accessible playground, which will provide an inclusive and enjoyable experience for people of all abilities.
In addition, the park will include a new accessible low impact Woodland Trail, which will provide visitors with an opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the park while also getting some exercise. The trail will be designed with a low impact surface, making it easy for visitors to walk or run without putting undue stress on their joints. Furthermore, the park will have a new bathroom facility to provide visitors with a clean and comfortable place to use the restroom.
To further enhance the park, the trailhead for the Ivy Creek Greenway will be upgraded. The Ivy Creek Greenway is a popular trail that runs through the park, and the upgrades to the trailhead will make it easier for visitors to access the trail and start their journey through the park.
TSW, in association with Hayes, James & Associates,, has been involved in the planning of the park for the past three years. The firm has been working closely with the community and the local government to ensure that the park meets the needs and desires of the residents of Gwinnett County.
Construction on the park is expected to be completed in the fall of 2021, which will provide the community with a beautiful, new park that is accessible and inclusive for all visitors. The park will provide a space for people to gather, play, and enjoy the outdoors, and will become a central hub for the community for generations to come.
