Gulf Place Update

The Gulf Place beachfront revitalization project is a multi-phase project that TSW’s Landscape Architecture Studio has been involved in for several years. The project is a public-private partnership between the City of Gulf Shores and Gulf Place, LLC, aimed at enhancing the beachfront area to create a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly destination for locals and visitors alike.

The first phase of the project included the construction of a public beach pavilion, a pedestrian promenade, and a beach access point. The second phase, which TSW’s Landscape Architecture Studio attended the ribbon-cutting for, included the construction of an event lawn, a splash pad, a children’s playground, a shade pavilion, and public restrooms.

The event lawn, which is located adjacent to the beach, is a flexible space designed to accommodate a wide range of events, including concerts, festivals, and other community gatherings. The splash pad is a popular feature for families with young children, offering a safe and interactive way to cool off on hot days. The playground, designed with a nautical theme, offers a variety of play structures for children of all ages.

The shade pavilion is a welcome addition to the beachfront area, providing a place for visitors to escape the sun while still enjoying the views of the Gulf of Mexico. The pavilion is equipped with comfortable seating and tables, making it an ideal spot for a picnic lunch or an afternoon break.

TSW’s Landscape Architecture Studio conducted a punch walk to ensure that all of the project’s features were functioning properly and to identify any areas that needed further attention. The team worked closely with the project’s contractors to make sure that the design intent was fully realized and that the finished product met the expectations of the City of Gulf Shores and Gulf Place, LLC.

The completion of the second phase of the Gulf Place beachfront revitalization project represents a major milestone in the ongoing effort to enhance the beachfront area and make it a more attractive and accessible destination for both residents and visitors. TSW’s Landscape Architecture Studio is proud to have played a role in this important project and looks forward to continuing to work on similar initiatives in the future.
