Glenwood Park Buzzes with Activity
Glenwood Park, a TSW-designed new urbanist project in Atlanta, is making progress as the spring season arrives. Pedestrian-friendly streets have been built in the southern part of the 28-acre site, and street trees have been planted. Construction of the neighborhood’s first new homes is also underway. The upcoming months will see new townhomes and mixed-use buildings constructed along the Glenwood-Memorial Connector, marking the realization of what will be intown Atlanta’s premier new urbanist project.
Larry Johnson, a resident of southeast Atlanta, has provided images of the site’s ongoing transformation from an industrial wasteland into a human-scaled extension of the North Ormewood Park neighborhood. TSW has compiled a photo gallery featuring these images. The new urbanist project will comprise 60 single-family homes, 100 to 130 townhouses, about 200 multifamily residences, and 50,000 to 75,000 square feet of retail and office space. The residential component has already been sold to three local homebuilders, including Hedgewood Properties, Capstone Partners, and Whitehall Homes. The first single-family homes are set to be completed in late summer, while the initial townhouses and retail buildings will be finished in the third and fourth quarters of 2004.
