Douglasville Downtown Greenspace Topping Off Ceremony
Douglasville Downtown Greenspace Topping Off Ceremony
The City of Douglasville’s new Downtown Greenspace is set to be a major attraction for residents and visitors alike, with a wide range of amenities for people of all ages to enjoy. TSW, led by Adam Williamson and Peyton Peterson, were responsible for the planning and design of the 2-acre park. The park will feature an amphitheater, green room, flex lawn, restrooms, playable art area, granite bouldering rocks, splashpad, and an iconic gateway sign.
The design of the park is focused on creating a space that is both beautiful and functional. The landscape architecture and architecture teams at TSW worked together to create a cohesive design that would meet the needs of the community while also enhancing the downtown area. The park will be an inviting and welcoming space for residents and visitors alike, with plenty of seating areas and shade provided by mature trees.
The park’s amphitheater will be a great place for outdoor concerts and other events, with seating for up to 200 people. The green room will be a flexible space that can be used for a variety of purposes, such as community meetings, art exhibitions, and more. The flex lawn will be a great spot for picnics and other outdoor activities, while the restrooms will be conveniently located for visitors.
The playable art area will be a fun and interactive space for children, with sculptures and other art pieces that can be climbed on and played with. The granite bouldering rocks will be a great spot for rock climbing enthusiasts, while the splashpad will be a fun place for children to cool off on hot summer days. The iconic gateway sign will be a great wayfinding feature and a landmark for visitors to the park.
Overall, the City of Douglasville’s new Downtown Greenspace is set to be a great addition to the community, providing a beautiful and functional space for residents and visitors to enjoy. The park’s design is focused on creating a welcoming and inclusive space for people of all ages, and its various amenities will make it a destination for the whole community. With the topping off ceremony now complete, the construction of the park can continue and the final product will soon be enjoyed by all.
