Developer Plans Office Condos for Glenwood Park
Globest.com ran a story on the development of office condos at Glenwood Park, an award-winning project designed by TSW.
A summary of the article titled “Parkside Partners Plan Office Condos at Glenwood Park” is as follows:
Atlanta-based developer, Parkside Partners, has acquired the former Williams Brothers office building at Glenwood Park for an undisclosed amount. The purchase was made as part of a wider effort to transform the 28-acre park into a complete urban neighbourhood with office, retail and housing spaces. The property will be converted into 22,000 square feet of office condos above one level of covered parking, which is set to be completed by November 2004. Glenwood Park, located two miles from Downtown, will include 60 single-family homes, 100 to 130 townhouses, about 200 multifamily residences and 50,000 to 75,000 square feet of retail and office space.
According to Green Street Properties’ President, Katharine Kelley, the new office space will help create an active daytime environment in the area. The redevelopment of the park has been in progress for 30 months and is expected to be completed in late summer. The first single-family homes are scheduled to be completed by then, with townhouses and retail buildings set to be finished in the third and fourth quarters of 2004. Glenwood Park is being developed by Green Street Properties, which was founded by Charles M. Brewer, the founder of local internet service provider MindSpring Enterprises. The company’s goal is to turn the site from a collection of disconnected, auto-oriented uses into a mixed-use, walkable neighborhood.
