At TSW, as planners, architects, and landscape architects we believe in creating and enhancing neighborhoods, towns, and cities to foster a community that supports one another. TSW’s core belief is that we are stronger together, and by sharing our experiences, differences, hopes, and dreams, we can create a brighter future for all.

However, TSW acknowledges that they have not always lived up to their ideal. Institutionalized racism is a prevalent issue that continues to affect many cities, states, and countries. TSW understands that the designs they create, the communities they develop, and the planning efforts they undertake can either contribute to the problem or be part of the solution. TSW has pledged to make better choices and remain committed to respect, inclusivity, and equity.

TSW recognizes that the first step in creating a more equitable future is by acknowledging the problem and listening to the experiences and perspectives of those affected by systemic racism. TSW is committed to expanding the diversity of its staff to better reflect the diversity of its city and increasing its own awareness and understanding.

In the same way that TSW begins its projects by sitting down with its clients and listening to their goals, TSW intends to listen and learn from those affected by systemic racism. TSW will work to make better-informed decisions as they collaborate with their clients and communities to heal the racial injustice that continues to plague our communities and harm our neighbors.
