Augusta Sustainable Development Implementation Program Kicks Off
TSW, and a team of subconsultants, will kick off the City of Augusta Sustainable Development Implementation Program with its first public meeting on Wednesday, August 29th.
The Augusta Sustainable Development Implementation Program targets a district extending approximately 4.5 miles from downtown Augusta to Rocky Creek as the Priority Development District for smart growth and sustainable development. The project will focus on four major tasks:
- Developing a detailed plan for the Priority Development District and action/feasibility plans for up to three prototypical projects
- Developing a detailed plan for a multi-modal transportation corridor bisecting the district
- Revising current codes to facilitate higher-density, mixed-use, mixed-income development in the district
- Creating an implementation plan for green, affordable housing in the district
Funding for the Augusta Sustainable Development Implementation Program is being provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration.
