ARC Regional Excellence Awards
The Atlanta Regional Commission recently held the 2022 State of the Region event and as part of the event, announced Regional Excellence Awards. TSW, an architecture and planning firm, was proud to have two of their projects receive awards at the event.
Innovative Development Award for Edgewood-Candler Park Transit-Oriented Development:
The Innovative Development Award was given to the Edgewood-Candler Park Transit-Oriented Development, which was a collaboration between TSW’s Planning Studio and Columbia Ventures. The development transformed a former parking lot at the Edgewood-Candler Park MARTA station into a vibrant mixed-use complex. This project is part of MARTA’s ongoing efforts to revitalize neighborhoods by developing parking lots at its rail stations. TSW’s Landscape Architecture Studio played an important role in the development by creating the design for the surrounding streetscapes, parking areas, amenity pool, lifestyle deck, outdoor café, and other gathering spaces.
The Edgewood-Candler Park Transit-Oriented Development is a great example of how TSW’s team approach to design and planning can lead to exceptional outcomes. The planning studio worked closely with Columbia Ventures to create a vision for the development that would meet the needs of the community and be in line with MARTA’s goals. The landscape architecture studio then took that vision and brought it to life with the design for the surrounding streetscapes, parking areas, amenity pool, lifestyle deck, outdoor café, and other gathering spaces. This collaboration resulted in a development that not only met the needs of the community but also enhanced the area and provided a welcoming and inviting space for residents, visitors and commuters.
TSW is proud of the recognition their projects received at the State of the Region event and are excited to continue to work on projects that make a positive impact on the communities in which they are located. They strive to create designs that are not only beautiful but also functional, sustainable and enhance the lives of the people who use them.
Livable Center Award for the Stockbridge Amphitheater and Park
The City of Stockbridge has made significant strides in enhancing its downtown area over the past decade, making it a major hub for the community. One of the most notable accomplishments in this effort is the construction of the new Amphitheater and Park, which has quickly become the central gathering spot for the rapidly-growing city. The Amphitheater and Park expands the public space around City Hall, providing a new destination for residents and visitors to enjoy.
TSW’s Architecture and Landscape Architecture Studios played a vital role in the development of the project, providing their expertise from the planning stage all the way through to completion. TSW’s Architecture Studio was responsible for providing concept design services, which helped the City envision the potential of the new space and understand how it could be used to meet the community’s needs. The Landscape Architecture Studio then took over, providing construction document services that brought the City’s vision to life.
The new Amphitheater and Park offers a variety of amenities for visitors to enjoy, including an open lawn area for picnics, an interactive water feature, playgrounds, landscaped gardens and seating areas. The Amphitheater itself serves as a stage for outdoor concerts, plays and festivals, providing an exciting new venue for the community to come together and enjoy the arts.
The City of Stockbridge’s efforts to enhance its downtown area, and the construction of the new Amphitheater and Park, are a testament to the success that can be achieved when a community works together to revitalize its downtown. TSW is proud to have played a part in this transformation, and to have provided the City with a new public space that will serve as a hub for the community for many years to come.
